Our Story

Ibanda University (IU) was founded in 2013 by a group of visionary people as a partnership. Ibanda University is a private University located in Western Uganda.

It is a fully registered and recognized University by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). It obtained its letter of Interim Authority on the 26th June 2013, Ref: NCHE/GR/AL/02. Thereafter, NCHE awarded the provisional license to operate as a University on 29th September, 2014, Ref: UI.PL.025. Since then, the University has awarded Under Graduate Degrees, Diploma and Certificates.

On April 14, 2022 National Council for Higher Education accredited Ibanda University’s Directorate of Graduate Studies and Training, Ref: NCHE/GR/AL/02. The graduate school opened on 15th August, 2022, 

On February 10th, 2023, Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) Accredited Ibanda University-centre Number UVQF/3992 to assess programmes funded by Master Card Foundation Project (Youth Inclusive Dairy Market System) YIDAMS.

In the same year on 7th July, 2023, Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) Accredited Ibanda University-centre Number UBV043 to offer and assess Specialized Programmes under the Faculty of Applied Sciences
