Ibanda University was licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in 2013 Vide Interim License No. NCHE/GR/AL/02 dated 25th June 2013. This paved the way and permission to start final preparations for the university under the stewardship of the Ibanda University Project Development Committee. On 29th September 2014, NCHE Vide Provisional License Ref: UI.PL.025 was the final stage of approval for the formal opening up of Ibanda University commence its mandate as a bona fide provider of university education, research outreaches and other attendant services. Thereafter the University was honored to be inaugurated by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
