GENERAL CODE OF BEHAVIOUR OF STUDENTS
AT IBANDA UNIVERSITY
Code of behavior refers to the students’ conduct, relationship with others and behavior during one’s stay at Ibanda University. A student shall be guided (among others) by the following code of behavior breach of which shall constitute sufficient ground for disciplinary action against such a student.
a) A student shall act at all times in reasonable and responsible manner.
b) A student shall always comply with laws of Uganda as well as University’s prescribed policies and procedures.
c) A student shall at all times exercise courtesy towards other persons, civility and self-control
d) Being drunk at campus, abuse of drugs, quarreling and assault at campus, shall call for disciplinary action against the student.
e) Each student shall be individually held responsible and accountable for observing and maintaining the University’s safety and security regulations as may be prescribed from time to time.
f) A student shall not be engaged in any unlawful activity involving destruction of both University and community property.
g) The University shall have zero tolerance towards any form of discrimination against students.
h) The university shall exercise zero tolerance to insubordination exhibited by any student.
Misconduct
An act done without reasonable excuse by any student of Ibanda University which amounts to failure to pursue his/ her studies, or which contravenes any policy or which is otherwise prejudicial to efficient conduct or bring to Ibanda University into disrepute constitutes misconduct.
Misconduct shall include, but not limited to the following
a) Gross negligence in pursuing studies
b) Acts that bring the University in disrepute
c) Act that involving turpitude e.g theft, corruption, tribalism, nepotism etc.
d) Negligence causing loss of the University Property
e) Malicious damage to the University Property
f) Perjury
g) Unauthorized use and possession of University Property
h) Intimidation
i) Assault
j) Sexual harassment
k) Act or omission against University Property
l) Using abuse of drugs and alcohol
m) Incitement with interest to cause disobedience/strike
n) Use and abuse of drugs and alcohol
o) Insubordination
p) Refusal to comply with a lawful and reasonable order
q) Falsification of academic documents
r) Making false statements
